The Sydney Metro Northwest project will deliver Australia’s first fully-automated rail network and is Australia’s largest public transport project.
Within this project, the Alliance between RCR and Alstom will install the signalling infrastructure on the Northwest link of the Metro Network in Sydney. It features a depot at Rouse Hill, then 40km of track with 13 stations along the route to its termination point at Chatswood. The signalling system will provide driverless operation and a service of a train every four minutes at every station. RCR’s scope includes the installation of the equipment within 13 new signalling equipment rooms between Cudgegong and Chatswood. Trackside installation activities will include:
- 186 axle counters
- 75 Points Position Indicators
- 49 Points motors / rodding
- 256 DCS CCTV antennas
- 983 balises
- 643km of new cabling
